The university <a href="https://eoss.asu.edu/access/dreamzone/daca-updates#:~:text=For%20Online%20DACA%20renewal%2C%20please,call%20480%2D965%2D7712.">allows</a> illegal immigrants to pay 150% of in-state tuition. While illegal immigrants don&#8217;t pay the same amount for in-state tuition as legal Arizona residents, the total cost is still less than those paying out-of-state tuition.

Arizona State University receives a &#8220;D&#8221; grade for the Amount of Foreign Funding Received. According to <a href="https://sites.ed.gov/foreigngifts/">College Foreign Gift Reporting</a>, the total amount of foreign funding the university has received is $5,771.28 per current undergraduate student. Oftentimes, foreign parties will convey their influence by funding certain courses, activities, professors, and organizations on campus. In certain cases, universities must abide by restrictions dictated by foreign parties to receive funding. In addition, there have been <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/top-universities-took-billions-in-unreported-foreign-funds-u-s-finds-11603226953">reports</a> that claim that universities underreport foreign funding. Arizona State University receives a &#8220;D&#8221; grade for Required Equity, Diversity, or Inclusion Courses for Students. <a href="https://catalog.asu.edu/ug_gsr">The university</a> requires students to take up to a maximum of two of three awareness courses: Cultural Diversity in the United States, Global Awareness, and Historical Awareness. According to Arizona State University:
&#8220;The objective of the cultural diversity (C) requirement is to promote awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity within the contemporary U.S.&#8221;
&#8220;The objective of the global awareness (G) requirement is to help students recognize the need for an understanding of the values, elements and social processes of cultures other than those of the U.S.&#8221;
&#8220;The objective of the historical awareness (H) requirement is to help students develop knowledge of the past, which can be useful in shaping the present and future.&#8221;
While not all courses listed within these categories necessarily have a left-leaning bend, many of the courses do. This makes bypassing left-leaning courses for nonpolitical options difficult.
Courses include &#8220;Race, Gender, and Class,&#8221; &#8220;Climate Change,&#8221; and &#8220;Feminist &amp; Queer Geographies&#8221; among others.

The university has four segregated convocations (Asian/Asian Pacific American Convocation, Black African Convocation, International Student Convocation, and <a href="https://eoss.asu.edu/student-and-cultural-engagement/culture/special-interest-convocations/rainbow">Rainbow Convocation</a>).
The university has no segregated classes or dormitories, however, a student was harassed and removed from a multicultural center on campus in 2021.

Arizona State University receives a &#8220;B-&#8221; grade for Protests and Canceling Speakers. Since 2021, the university has had three incidents. Several dozen people <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=18514">protested</a> the admission of Kyle Rittenhouse to campus referring to him as &#8220;Killer Kyle.&#8221; Senator Kyrsten Sinema <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=18257">was followed</a> and harassed by several left-wing protesters in a campus bathroom. Lastly, students <a href="https://twitter.com/fromkalen/status/1623514015178821632">protested</a> an event hosted by Charlie Kirk and Dennis Prager.

Protests and Canceling Speakers

Arizona State University receives a &#8220;D&#8221; grade for Boycotting, Divesting, and Sanctioning Israel (BDS). According to the <a href="https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/campus-divestment-resolutions">Jewish Virtual Library</a>, since the start of the 2013-14 school year, the university&#8217;s student body has introduced two pieces of legislation that would require the university to divest from any Israeli company and from companies that do business with Israel. Both pieces of legislation failed.
Although the pieces of legislation failed, introducing this type of legislation often puts a target on Jewish and pro-Israel students and communities, fostering an environment vulnerable to antisemitism.

Arizona State University receives a &#8220;C&#8221; grade for Mask and Vaccine Mandates. According to the <a href="https://eoss.asu.edu/health/announcements/coronavirus/vaccine-faqs">university&#8217;s</a> COVID-19 Vaccine FAQs, when asked &#8220;How well are vaccines working?,&#8221; the university responds, &#8220;They are working extremely well.&#8221; The university recommends that students, staff, and faculty wear masks and get vaccinated, however, this is not mandated.

Arizona State University Professor David Boyles—who <a href="https://angelictroublemakers.substack.com/p/queer-joy-summer-planting-3-promote" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>, “Sex education is a topic I’ve been obsessed with for a while”—appeared to physically assault a Turning Point USA Frontlines cameraman.  
TPUSA’s Frontlines team confronted Boyles after <a href="https://azfreenews.com/2023/09/meet-the-asu-professor-behind-arizonas-drag-queen-story-hour/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">learning</a> that he founded the Arizona chapter of Drag Queen Story Hour. Boyles refused to respond to the Frontlines reporter who asked how long he’d had the obsession with sex education and why he felt children should be exposed to drag queens.

According to<a href="https://azfreenews.com/2023/10/asu-professor-who-founded-drag-story-hour-assaults-reporter-claims-hes-victim/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> AZ Free News</a>, “Boyles accused the TPUSA men of terrorism for filming him while asking him questions…Boyles also stated on Instagram that he was jumped from behind by the TPUSA reporter.”
AZ Free News also reported, “The <a href="https://www.azcentral.com/restricted/?return=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.azcentral.com%2Fstory%2Fnews%2Flocal%2Ftempe-breaking%2F2023%2F10%2F12%2Fasu-police-investigating-after-queer-faculty-member-assaulted-in-tempe%2F71160761007%2F" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Arizona Republic</a> claimed in its headline that Boyles was targeted in a campus garage for his sexuality. The original headline read: ‘Targeted’: ASU Investigating After Queer Instructor Confronted by Turning Point USA ‘Crew.’”

<a href="https://azfreenews.com/2023/09/meet-the-asu-professor-behind-arizonas-drag-queen-story-hour/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AZ Free News</a> featured Boyles in an article titled “Meet the ASU Professor Behind Arizona’s Drag Queen Story Hour.” The source writes:
“Boyles established Drag Queen Story Hour-Arizona in 2019, a chapter of the national Drag Queen Story Hour organization…Boyles has been featured in several ‘The Art of Drag’ events alongside one of his drag queen storytellers…The most recent event occurred on Wednesday [September 20, 2023].  During the <a href="https://youtu.be/RN0Bou3wmxk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">presentation</a>, Boyles said that the notion that drag shows are harmful to children was a ‘myth.’ He also said that drag queens have been long considered the leaders of LGBTQ+ communities.”

On May 16, 2023, Boyles <a href="https://angelictroublemakers.substack.com/p/queer-joy-summer-planting-3-promote" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published a blog</a> &#8211; “Queer Joy Summer Planting #3: Promote Radical Queer Sex Education” &#8211; in which he stated he was “trying to plant more queer joy in the world.” He also said:

Arizona State University Professor David Boyles—who <a href="https://angelictroublemakers.substack.com/p/queer-joy-summer-planting-3-promote" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>, “Sex education is a topic I’ve been obsessed with for a while”—appeared to physically assault a Turning Point USA Frontlines cameraman.  

TPUSA’s Frontlines team confronted Boyles after <a href="https://azfreenews.com/2023/09/meet-the-asu-professor-behind-arizonas-drag-queen-story-hour/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">learning</a> that he founded the Arizona chapter of Drag Queen Story Hour. Boyles refused to respond to the Frontlines reporter who asked how long he’d had the obsession with sex education and why he felt children should be exposed to drag queens.

According to<a href="https://azfreenews.com/2023/10/asu-professor-who-founded-drag-story-hour-assaults-reporter-claims-hes-victim/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> AZ Free News</a>, “Boyles accused the TPUSA men of terrorism for filming him while asking him questions…Boyles also stated on Instagram that he was jumped from behind by the TPUSA reporter.”

AZ Free News also reported, “The <a href="https://www.azcentral.com/restricted/?return=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.azcentral.com%2Fstory%2Fnews%2Flocal%2Ftempe-breaking%2F2023%2F10%2F12%2Fasu-police-investigating-after-queer-faculty-member-assaulted-in-tempe%2F71160761007%2F" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Arizona Republic</a> claimed in its headline that Boyles was targeted in a campus garage for his sexuality. The original headline read: ‘Targeted’: ASU Investigating After Queer Instructor Confronted by Turning Point USA ‘Crew.’”

<a href="https://cronkite.asu.edu/about/faculty-and-leadership/faculty/gilgerbio">Kristin Gilger</a> is the Reynolds Professor of Business Journalism and the interim dean at the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University (ASU). She is the author of the book <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Theres-No-Crying-Newsrooms-Learned/dp/1538121492">“There’s No Crying in Newsrooms”</a> and has served in various roles at ASU since 2002.
Gilger has been mired in controversy since assuming her role as dean this past summer. The previous candidate, Sonya Forte Duhe, was replaced by Gilger after <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/after-tweet-supporting-good-police-officers-arizona-state-revokes-journalism-dean-offer/">her offer was rescinded by the university</a>. After tweeting an image that was considered too positive towards police officers, Duhe was condemned by university faculty for showing “poor judgment.”
Gilger has come under fire after pressuring Rae’Lee Klein, a senior journalism major, and station manager for ASU’s Blaze radio, to resign from her position after <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/08/28/this-is-why-jacob-blake-had-a-warrant-out-for-his-arrest/?preview_id=16209831">tweeting and soon deleting a New York Post article</a> detailing the warrant issued for Jacob Blake’s arrest;
“Always more to the story, folks. Please read this article to get to the background of Jacob Blake’s warrant. You’ll be quite disgusted“ 
Blake—who was wanted for sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend—was shot in the back by police after resisting arrest and allegedly reaching for a knife on the floor of his car.
Facing immediate backlash for her tweet, the Board of Directors at the station <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/09/18/arizona-student-journalist-cancelled-over-jacob-blake-tweet/">voted unanimously to remove her from her position</a>. Later releasing a statement, the board announced that “Blaze Radio firmly believes that Black Lives Matter.”
“The board gave Klein an opportunity to step down under her own will. As of the time of this statement, Klein has not made the decision to resign…In light of this, we do not recognize Rae&#8217;Lee Klein as the station manager of Blaze Radio.”  
Gilger has claimed that the University is not moving to remove Klein. In a statement to the New York Post, Gilger stated that Klein is not being targeted by the university for her views.
“Any actions that are unfolding are not punishment for a tweet. I have been clear with Rae’Lee that she would not be removed as station manager of Blaze Radio, a student internet radio station, because of the views she expressed,”  
However, in email exchanges between Klein and Gilger, she did in fact act to pressure Klein to resign, contrary to her statement.

According to his University biography, Inoue’s <a href="https://cisa.asu.edu/node/7955" target="_blank" rel="noopener">research</a> focuses on “antiracist and social justice theory and practices in writing assessments.”

Prior to his role at Arizona State, Inoue served as the Director of the Writing Center at the University of Washington-Tacoma. As Daily Caller <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2017/02/20/college-writing-center-declares-american-grammar-a-racist-unjust-language-structure/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">documents</a>, Inoue <a href="\&quot;https://stjenglish.com/standing-against-racism-in-the-field-of-writing-dr-asao-inoue-uw-tacoma/\&quot;" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commissioned</a> an anti-racist poster in an effort to ensure that his staff did not “embrace racist practices.” Inoue maintains that racism is embedded in the English language as well as in society itself, writing that “racism is the normal condition of things.

During a lecture in one of her courses—titled, “Foundations of Social Work”—Dr. Lorraine can be heard describing the United States as a “white supremacist system,” that was founded for the benefit of white people at the expense of Native Americans and people of color.
In the class—recorded and provided exclusively to the Professor Watchlist team by an anonymous source—Dr. Salas urges her students to confront the “implicit biases” present in themselves and American society. Claiming that stereotypes and prejudices construct implicit bias, she warns that unconscious actions can cause serious harm.
Attempting to provide an example to bolster her claim, Dr. Salas states that implicit bias causes doctors to act as if their black patients are slaves. She proceeds to cite a study that claims doctors give less pain medication to black patients as compared to white ones.
Dr. Salas alleges this is the product of the legacy of slavery; slave owners viewed blacks as subhuman and able to withstand a large amount of pain, so therefore doctors continue to believe that blacks can withstand a large amount of pain. Doctors will therefore prescribe black patients less pain medication.

In 2019, Cooper founded the “<a href="https://katelyncooper1.wixsite.com/bioedlab" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cooper Biology Education Research Lab</a>” because she, as a gay woman, was “worried about biology research not being inclusive enough of “LGBTQ+ people,” according to <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/inclusive-lab-for-lgbt-students-created-by-arizona-state-professor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">College Fix. </a>
Cooper is “upset that heterosexual white [men] dominate the biological sciences.” She told <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/nbc-out-proud/professor-making-biology-education-inclusive-lgbtq-undergrads-rcna28813" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a> that “The goal isn’t just to make classrooms more inclusive, she explained, but to bring more diversity to a field that has traditionally been dominated by straight white men.” 
Cooper also told NBC News her hopes for collegiate science education: “Cooper said science educators can make their classrooms more inclusive by being openly supportive of LGBTQ students.” According to Cooper, “Educators can, for example, put an inclusivity statement on their syllabus or website, foster safe environments for students to reveal their LGBTQ identities and familiarize themselves with on-campus LGBTQ resources in case students come to them for support.”

In 2019, Cooper founded the “<a href="https://katelyncooper1.wixsite.com/bioedlab" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cooper Biology Education Research Lab</a>” because she, as a gay woman, was “worried about biology research not being inclusive enough of “LGBTQ+ people,” according to <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/inclusive-lab-for-lgbt-students-created-by-arizona-state-professor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">College Fix. </a>

Cooper is “upset that heterosexual white [men] dominate the biological sciences.” She told <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/nbc-out-proud/professor-making-biology-education-inclusive-lgbtq-undergrads-rcna28813" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a> that “The goal isn’t just to make classrooms more inclusive, she explained, but to bring more diversity to a field that has traditionally been dominated by straight white men.” 

Cooper also told NBC News her hopes for collegiate science education: “Cooper said science educators can make their classrooms more inclusive by being openly supportive of LGBTQ students.” According to Cooper, “Educators can, for example, put an inclusivity statement on their syllabus or website, foster safe environments for students to reveal their LGBTQ identities and familiarize themselves with on-campus LGBTQ resources in case students come to them for support.”
