These can be bypassed in favor of &#8220;Introduction to Hebrew Bible&#8221; or &#8220;Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory.&#8221; Yet, many of the course options are biased. Students are also required to complete one concentration which can be a General Education Concentration (GEC), a minor, or a second major. The university says, &#8220;A concentration consists of 4 courses chosen from a faculty-designed menu that is structured around a clearly articulated organizing principle.&#8221; General Education Concentrations <a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://catalog.bates.edu/departments/GEC/programs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">include</a> the following:

These can be bypassed for options such as &#8220;English&#8221; or &#8220;Chemistry&#8221; but many of the options are biased, making bypassing somewhat difficult.
