Denied Turning Point USA Chapter

Oregon State University receives a &#8220;D&#8221; grade for In-State Tuition for Illegal Immigrants. The university&#8217;s <a href="https://admissions.oregonstate.edu/undocumented-student-information#:~:text=In%20summary%2C%20OSU%20may%20grant,an%20Oregon%20high%20school%20or" target="_blank" rel="noopener">policy</a> is based on Oregon House Bill <a href="https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2013R1/Downloads/MeasureDocument/HB2787" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2787</a> which &#8220;provides certain students an exemption from nonresident tuition and fees at Oregon public universities.&#8221;
The policy states the following:
&#8220;In summary, OSU may grant in-state tuition for undocumented students who have: attended elementary or secondary/high school in a state or territory of the U.S. for at least five years; studied at an Oregon school for at least the last three years prior to leaving high school; graduated from an Oregon high school or received a GED in Oregon; and show intention to become a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.&#8221;
&#8220;Undocumented students who do not meet the criteria for HB 2787 can still apply to Oregon State University but will be assessed as a non-resident student and will be required to pay non-resident (out-of-state) tuition and fees.&#8221;

Oregon State University a “C-” grade for the Amount of Foreign Funding Received. According to <a href="https://sites.ed.gov/foreigngifts/">College Foreign Gift Reporting</a>, the total amount of foreign funding the university has received is $3,097.70 per current undergraduate student. Oftentimes, foreign parties will convey their influence by funding certain courses, activities, professors, and organizations on campus. In certain cases, universities must abide by restrictions dictated by foreign parties to receive funding. In addition, there have been <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/top-universities-took-billions-in-unreported-foreign-funds-u-s-finds-11603226953">reports</a> that claim that universities underreport foreign funding. Oregon State University receives a &#8220;D&#8221; grade for Required Equity, Diversity, or Inclusion Courses for Students. The Baccalaureate Core <a href="https://catalog.oregonstate.edu/earning-degrees/bcc/#text" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Courses</a> that students are required to take includes a &#8220;Cultural Diversity&#8221; requirement of three credits. According to the <a href="https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2018/crime-in-the-u.s.-2018" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Federal Bureau of Investigation</a>, the Corvallis, Oregon violent crime rate was 160.71 per 100,000 people in 2018, lower than the 2018 national average of 380.56 per 100,000 people. While campus safety is of utmost importance, it is also pertinent to consider the crime rates of the surrounding town or city as students often tend to venture off campus, especially after their freshman year.
