Johnson, “Since 2012, DACA has allowed undocumented immigrants, often known as &#8216;Dreamers,&#8217; the ability to work and study without fear of deportation from the United States. At Ohio State, we are committed to providing support for all students so that they may focus on the pursuit of higher education for the betterment of themselves, their families and society.&#8221;
The Ohio State University describes its procedure for allowing in-state tuition: &#8220;If you apply using the instructions above under Applying, we&#8217;ll automatically send your file to our residency office to be reviewed for residency. You will also be directed to submit your I-797 notice of DACA application or approval. If you meet the criteria, the residency office will designate you as a &#8220;resident for tuition purposes.'&#8221;

Oftentimes, foreign parties will convey their influence by funding certain courses, activities, professors, and organizations on campus. In certain cases, universities must abide by restrictions dictated by foreign parties to receive funding. In addition, there have been <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/top-universities-took-billions-in-unreported-foreign-funds-u-s-finds-11603226953">reports</a> that claim that universities underreport foreign funding. The university recently updated its General Education program which went into effect in the autumn of 2022 to include its Race, Ethnicity, and Gender Diversity category. &#8220;In autumn 2022, Ohio State will launch a new General Education (GE) program that reduces the number of required GE credit hours, provides undergraduate students more flexibility in scheduling, streamlines time to degree, and better prepares them for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century. It is the first major overhaul of the GE curriculum in more than 30 years.&#8221;

During an appearance with Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens, protestors <a href="https://www.thelantern.com/2023/03/students-protest-campus-tpusa-event-charlie-kirk-and-candance-owens-speak-on-lgbtq-rights-and-nuclear-families/">interrupted</a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/TPUSA/status/1638680480659947522">stormed out</a> of the speech. Approximately one hundred more protested outside and <a href="https://twitter.com/TPUSA/status/1638687956797120513">refused</a> to attend or even speak with Turning Point USA chapter members.

Protests and Canceling Speakers

The Ohio State University receives a “D” grade for Boycotting, Divesting, and Sanctioning Israel (BDS). According to the <a href="https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/campus-divestment-resolutions">Jewish Virtual Library</a>, since the start of the 2013-14 school year, the university’s student body has introduced six pieces of legislation that would require the university to divest from any Israeli company and from companies that do business with Israel. All six pieces of legislation failed.
Although the pieces of legislation failed, introducing this type of legislation often puts a target on Jewish and pro-Israel students and communities, fostering an environment vulnerable to antisemitism.

Boycotting, Divesting, and Sanctioning Israel

The Ohio State University receives a “C” grade for Mask and Vaccine Mandates. According to <a href="https://safeandhealthy.osu.edu/covid-19-vaccine-requirement">the university&#8217;s</a> Safe and Healthy Buckeyes page, &#8220;Ohio State announced on Monday, April 24 that the university will no longer require COVID-19 vaccination for students, faculty and staff, with the exception of those who are subject to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) or other professional requirements.&#8221;
However, the university does strongly encourage vaccinations: &#8220;All campus community members are strongly encouraged to stay up to date on vaccinations as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This transition coincides with the upcoming expiration of the federal public health emergency, is in response to changes in the FDA&#8217;s Emergency Use Authorization of COVID-19 vaccinations and is compliant with Ohio law.&#8221;
<a href="https://safeandhealthy.osu.edu/personal-protection-hygiene">The university</a> describes its policies on masking:

<li>&#8220;Masks are optional in most settings on all Ohio State campuses, including general-purpose buildings, residence halls, dining facilities, classrooms, offices, the Ohio Union, childcare centers, on public transportation, and for asymptomatic patients and visitors at the Wexler Medical Center and the Wilce Student Health Center. Masks are also optional outdoors.&#8221;</li>
<li>&#8220;Masks are required for care providers at the Wexner Medical Center when providing direct clinical care to inpatients and at some outpatient locations. People experiencing symptoms of a respiratory illness or have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days should also wear a mask.&#8221;</li>

In other lectures, Dr. Jeffries portrays America as a systemically racist nation. He thus defends critical race theory as necessary to understand oppression and the history of racism in the United States.
As <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2012/03/11/what-is-critical-race-theory/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ben Shapiro writes</a> for Breitbart News, critical race theory—also referred to as “critical theory”—is an intellectual branch of Marxism that views America and all of its institutions as being infected with white supremacy—to the point of some, including <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/nikolehannahjones" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nikole Hannah-Jones</a>, even <a href="https://reason.com/2020/09/23/1619-project-nikole-hannah-jones-1776-founding-race-new-york-times/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claiming</a> America’s real founding was in 1619 when the first slave stepped foot in North America, and not 1776 when the American colonies declared independence from England.
In a speech for <a href="https://www.cityclub.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The City Club of Cleveland</a>, Dr. Jeffries <a href="https://www.cityclub.org/forums/2021/08/20/misunderstanding-critical-race-theory" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lauds critical race theory as necessary to understand that racism is “systemic, deeply embedded, and produces racial inequality in our society</a>.” At one point while addressing the accusation that critical race theory brands all white people as racist, Dr. Jeffries retorts that while all white people are not born racist, all white people born in America are, in fact, racist.

He further characterizes any opposition to critical race theory as a “racial reckoning” used to whip up conservative voters as “racism is the greatest organizing force” in American history. While denying that critical race theory is taught in American schools, he nonetheless advocates for students to learn it.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Jeffries conducts training for local school districts in Ohio. In one lesson plan for <a href="https://www.olentangy.k12.oh.us/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Olentangy Local School District </a>obtained by the Professor Watchlist team, Dr. Jeffries advises teachers on how to teach critical theory and social justice movements to their students.
In Section One—titled, “Confronting Hard History: Teaching and Talking About Race and Racism in K-12 Classrooms,”—Dr. Jeffries addresses the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement and instructs teachers to incorporate the movement’s tenets into their lesson plans.
According to a <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study conducted by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED)</a>, BLM can be linked to 95% of the riots around the country–notably in Summer 2020 following the death of George Floyd. In an analysis of the study, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Federalist</a> found, “of the 633 incidents coded as riots, 88 percent are recorded as involving Black Lives Matter Activists.” The resulting riots were the largest in American history, <a href="https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/#:~:text=Only%20now%20are%20we%20beginning,%241%20billion%20to%20%242%20billion." target="_blank" rel="noopener">causing an estimated $2 billion in damages and 47 deaths.</a>
Despite the destruction, Dr. Jeffries lauds the protests for seeking justice for systemic racism. He urges educators to incorporate this into their lesson plans when teaching about BLM. In a speech for <a href="https://www.cityclub.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The City Club of Cleveland</a>, Dr. Jeffries <a href="https://www.cityclub.org/forums/2021/08/20/misunderstanding-critical-race-theory" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lauds critical race theory as necessary to understand that racism is “systemic, deeply embedded, and produces racial inequality in our society</a>.” At one point while addressing the accusation that critical race theory brands all white people as racist, Dr. Jeffries retorts that while all white people are not born racist, all white people born in America are, in fact, racist.

He further characterizes any opposition to critical race theory as a “racial reckoning” used to whip up conservative voters as “racism is the greatest organizing force” in American history. While denying that critical race theory is taught in American schools, he nonetheless advocates for students to learn it.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Jeffries conducts training for local school districts in Ohio. In one lesson plan for <a href="https://www.olentangy.k12.oh.us/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Olentangy Local School District </a>obtained by the Professor Watchlist team, Dr. Jeffries advises teachers on how to teach critical theory and social justice movements to their students.

In Section One—titled, “Confronting Hard History: Teaching and Talking About Race and Racism in K-12 Classrooms,”—Dr. Jeffries addresses the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement and instructs teachers to incorporate the movement’s tenets into their lesson plans.

According to a <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study conducted by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED)</a>, BLM can be linked to 95% of the riots around the country–notably in Summer 2020 following the death of George Floyd. In an analysis of the study, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Federalist</a> found, “of the 633 incidents coded as riots, 88 percent are recorded as involving Black Lives Matter Activists.” The resulting riots were the largest in American history, <a href="https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/#:~:text=Only%20now%20are%20we%20beginning,%241%20billion%20to%20%242%20billion." target="_blank" rel="noopener">causing an estimated $2 billion in damages and 47 deaths.</a>

Despite the destruction, Dr. Jeffries lauds the protests for seeking justice for systemic racism. He urges educators to incorporate this into their lesson plans when teaching about BLM. Dr. Treva Lindsay frequently writes for a number of prominent publications—such as <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2015/9/5/race-in-the-us-herstory" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Al Jazeera</a>, <a href="https://www.cosmopolitan.com/author/14721/treva-lindsey/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cosmopolitan</a>, and <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/27/opinions/r-kelly-conviction-black-women-and-girls-lindsey/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a>— accusing the United States of being systematically racist and calling for the abolishment of policing. She additionally praises the BLM movement for its alleged efforts to combat systemic racism.
Black Lives Matter (BLM,) as an organization, was <a href="https://blacklivesmatter.com/six-years-strong/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">founded following the death</a> of Treyvon Martin and the trial of George Zimmerman for his murder. After a jury acquitted Zimmerman in 2013, <a href="https://patrissecullors.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Patrice Cullors</a> joined with <a href="https://aliciagarza.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alicia Garza</a> and <a href="https://www.opaltometi.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Opal Tometi</a> to found the organization. BLM’s mission is to “eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on black communities by the state and vigilantes.”
In an article for Complex, Dr. Lindsay praises BLM and its umbrella organization, the Movement for Black Lives, for their <a href="https://www.complex.com/life/2017/02/black-history-month-five-years-after-trayvon-martin-shooting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">role in awakening Americans to the reality of “anti-black racism</a>.” In the same article, she alleges that “millions” of black Americans have been victims of systemic racism for hundreds of years, and still are today.
In a separate article for NBC News, Dr. Lindsay decries the  passage of Juneteenth, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/juneteenth-honors-black-emancipation-hope-equality-federal-holiday-doesn-t-ncna1271356" target="_blank" rel="noopener">describing it as trivial and merely a “symbolic gesture.</a>” A bill to make Juneteenth—a holiday <a href="https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/abolition-of-slavery-announced-in-texas-juneteenth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">celebrating the announcement that slavery had ended in Texas</a>— a national holiday was passed with the <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/biden-signs-bill-making-juneteenth-a-federal-holiday/ar-AAL92UE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bipartisan support of both houses</a> before it was signed into law in June of 2020.
Nonetheless, Dr. Lindsay writes that she can’t help but feel “contempt” towards white people for their support, critiquing the holiday as inadequate to combat “sanctioned white supremacy.”

Referencing an August 2020 incident, a <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/law-and-order/2021/04/20/graphic-video-columbus-police-release-bodycam-video-of-shooting/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Columbus, Ohio police officer was called over a domestic dispute involving Bryant</a>. When the officer arrived, Bryant was at the center of a fight with several other girls. Bryant then drew a knife and the responding officer ordered her to drop the weapon. Bryant then lunged at another girl with the knife, causing the officer to shoot and fatally wound her.
Despite <a href="https://twitter.com/shanermurph/status/1384703749046915074?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1384703749046915074%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Flaw-and-order%2F2021%2F04%2F20%2Fgraphic-video-columbus-police-release-bodycam-video-of-shooting%2F" target="_blank" rel="noopener">evidence from the body-cam exonerating his actions</a>, Dr. Lindsay still alleges the incident is further proof of systemic racism and brutality directed specifically at black Americans. In an article for the site Truthout, she describes the officer’s actions—along with anyone who would defend them—<a href="https://truthout.org/articles/we-are-fighting-for-a-world-where-makhia-bryant-would-have-lived/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">as the normalization of police violence and “erasing the long and inglorious history” of police violence against black people</a>. Dr. Lindsay further states that Bryant should still be alive while calling for the defunding and eventual abolishment of police.
“Police do not make us safer. Police do not make Black children safer. Not at school. Not on university campuses. Not at home. As the body camera footage shows, police escalate. The killing of Ma’Khia is yet another painful reminder of why a growing number of people are focusing their energies on building alternatives to policing and demanding that we defund the police. It’s a reminder why so many people are agitating to remove the police from our homes, communities, and schools — and eventually abolish policing altogether.”
Despite her defense of Byrant, Dr. Lindsay holds a paradoxical stance on the police shooting of Ashli Babbitt. In a separate article for Bitch Media, Dr. Lindsay <a href="https://www.bitchmedia.org/article/not-applying-say-her-name-to-white-supremacists" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defends the actions of the Capitol Officer who shot Babbitt</a>. Describing her as a white supremacist—and providing no evidence—who took part in an insurrection alongside a “lynch mob.”
Dr. Lindsay is referring to the January 6th Capitol Hill Riots, <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/02/09/965472049/the-capitol-siege-the-arrested-and-their-stories" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in which a number of protestors breached the Capitol’s Doors during certification of the 2020 Presidential Election</a>. Despite claims to the contrary, even the FBI has determined that <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/fbi-confirms-there-was-no-insurrection-on-january-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">no evidence exists that any rioters coordinated to commit an “insurrection.</a>” Ashli Babbitt was shot by Officer Michael Byrd as she attempted to climb through the broken window of a closed door. A review by the DC Metropolitan Police<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/documents-ashli-babbitt-death-foia-capitol-police" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> confirmed that Babbitt was unarmed when shot</a>.

<a href="https://wgss.osu.edu/people/lindsey.268" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Treva Lindsey</a> is an Associate Professor in the <a href="https://wgss.osu.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies</a> at <a href="https://www.osu.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Ohio State University.</a> According to her university bio, Dr. Lindsay specializes in areas such as African American Women’s History, black feminism, critical race, and gender theory, among other sexual politics.

Dr. Lindsay frequently writes and is invited to lecture about sexual assault prevention on college campuses. In a video of a lecture at Portland State University, Dr. Lindsay can be heard <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZugy4C-Udg&amp;ab_channel=PortlandStateUniversity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suggesting rehabilitating those who’ve committed sexual assault by teaching them to unlearn their “toxic masculinity” and innate homophobia</a>.

Dr. Treva Lindsay frequently writes for a number of prominent publications—such as <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2015/9/5/race-in-the-us-herstory" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Al Jazeera</a>, <a href="https://www.cosmopolitan.com/author/14721/treva-lindsey/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cosmopolitan</a>, and <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/27/opinions/r-kelly-conviction-black-women-and-girls-lindsey/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a>— accusing the United States of being systematically racist and calling for the abolishment of policing. She additionally praises the BLM movement for its alleged efforts to combat systemic racism.

Black Lives Matter (BLM,) as an organization, was <a href="https://blacklivesmatter.com/six-years-strong/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">founded following the death</a> of Treyvon Martin and the trial of George Zimmerman for his murder. After a jury acquitted Zimmerman in 2013, <a href="https://patrissecullors.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Patrice Cullors</a> joined with <a href="https://aliciagarza.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alicia Garza</a> and <a href="https://www.opaltometi.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Opal Tometi</a> to found the organization. BLM’s mission is to “eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on black communities by the state and vigilantes.”

In an article for Complex, Dr. Lindsay praises BLM and its umbrella organization, the Movement for Black Lives, for their <a href="https://www.complex.com/life/2017/02/black-history-month-five-years-after-trayvon-martin-shooting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">role in awakening Americans to the reality of “anti-black racism</a>.” In the same article, she alleges that “millions” of black Americans have been victims of systemic racism for hundreds of years, and still are today.

In a separate article for NBC News, Dr. Lindsay decries the  passage of Juneteenth, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/juneteenth-honors-black-emancipation-hope-equality-federal-holiday-doesn-t-ncna1271356" target="_blank" rel="noopener">describing it as trivial and merely a “symbolic gesture.</a>” A bill to make Juneteenth—a holiday <a href="https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/abolition-of-slavery-announced-in-texas-juneteenth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">celebrating the announcement that slavery had ended in Texas</a>— a national holiday was passed with the <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/biden-signs-bill-making-juneteenth-a-federal-holiday/ar-AAL92UE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bipartisan support of both houses</a> before it was signed into law in June of 2020.

Nonetheless, Dr. Lindsay writes that she can’t help but feel “contempt” towards white people for their support, critiquing the holiday as inadequate to combat “sanctioned white supremacy.”

She mirrors her characterization in an article for Bustle, describing the history of the United States as <a href="https://www.bustle.com/p/the-lack-of-mobilized-outrage-for-police-killing-black-women-is-injurious-erasure-22953764" target="_blank" rel="noopener">encompassing the murder of black people from slavery to the present day</a>.

Dr. Lindsay builds on her allegation in another article for Complex, <a href="https://www.complex.com/life/2016/09/blue-lives-matter-bill" target="_blank" rel="noopener">specifically citing “racist policing” and “police brutality'' as the 2 “most visible” forms of state violence</a> against black people. As such, Dr. Lindsay has openly called for the defunding of police on her <a href="https://twitter.com/divafeminist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">personal Twitter account</a>.

Referencing an August 2020 incident, a <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/law-and-order/2021/04/20/graphic-video-columbus-police-release-bodycam-video-of-shooting/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Columbus, Ohio police officer was called over a domestic dispute involving Bryant</a>. When the officer arrived, Bryant was at the center of a fight with several other girls. Bryant then drew a knife and the responding officer ordered her to drop the weapon. Bryant then lunged at another girl with the knife, causing the officer to shoot and fatally wound her.

Despite <a href="https://twitter.com/shanermurph/status/1384703749046915074?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1384703749046915074%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Flaw-and-order%2F2021%2F04%2F20%2Fgraphic-video-columbus-police-release-bodycam-video-of-shooting%2F" target="_blank" rel="noopener">evidence from the body-cam exonerating his actions</a>, Dr. Lindsay still alleges the incident is further proof of systemic racism and brutality directed specifically at black Americans. In an article for the site Truthout, she describes the officer’s actions—along with anyone who would defend them—<a href="https://truthout.org/articles/we-are-fighting-for-a-world-where-makhia-bryant-would-have-lived/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">as the normalization of police violence and “erasing the long and inglorious history” of police violence against black people</a>. Dr. Lindsay further states that Bryant should still be alive while calling for the defunding and eventual abolishment of police.

“Police do not make us safer. Police do not make Black children safer. Not at school. Not on university campuses. Not at home. As the body camera footage shows, police escalate. The killing of Ma’Khia is yet another painful reminder of why a growing number of people are focusing their energies on building alternatives to policing and demanding that we defund the police. It’s a reminder why so many people are agitating to remove the police from our homes, communities, and schools — and eventually abolish policing altogether.”

Despite her defense of Byrant, Dr. Lindsay holds a paradoxical stance on the police shooting of Ashli Babbitt. In a separate article for Bitch Media, Dr. Lindsay <a href="https://www.bitchmedia.org/article/not-applying-say-her-name-to-white-supremacists" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defends the actions of the Capitol Officer who shot Babbitt</a>. Describing her as a white supremacist—and providing no evidence—who took part in an insurrection alongside a “lynch mob.”

Dr. Lindsay is referring to the January 6th Capitol Hill Riots, <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/02/09/965472049/the-capitol-siege-the-arrested-and-their-stories" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in which a number of protestors breached the Capitol’s Doors during certification of the 2020 Presidential Election</a>. Despite claims to the contrary, even the FBI has determined that <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/fbi-confirms-there-was-no-insurrection-on-january-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">no evidence exists that any rioters coordinated to commit an “insurrection.</a>” Ashli Babbitt was shot by Officer Michael Byrd as she attempted to climb through the broken window of a closed door. A review by the DC Metropolitan Police<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/documents-ashli-babbitt-death-foia-capitol-police" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> confirmed that Babbitt was unarmed when shot</a>.

Dr. Leibowitz is also the Medical Director for Behavioral Health at the THRIVE Gender and Sex Development Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

In June 2021, Dr. Leibowitz and Co-Medical Director of the THRIVE Gender Development Program Dr. Gayathri Chelvakumar, wrote an op-ed for <a href="https://www.dispatch.com/story/opinion/columns/guest/2021/06/23/gayathri-chelvakumar-and-scott-leibowitz-bills-increase-stigma-isolation-many-transgender-youth-fee/5297432001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Columbus Dispatch</a> in response to the “national wave of anti-transgender legislation.”
They write, “As healers, we follow ethical guidelines to deliver evidence-informed treatment options that are acknowledged and well-recognized by the academic and professional societies we belong to.” They argue “the last thing that transgender youth need are lawmakers restricting their athletic participation or eliminating important beneficial medical options for them.”
Dr. Leibowitz and Dr. Chelvakumar conclude the article by saying, “We urge our lawmakers to listen to the voices of the transgender youth and families, and those who provide care to them every day and abandon this harmful attempt to further alienate LGBTQ youth.”

“First, there is consensus in the field, and amongst these signatories, that gender affirming medical care is important and beneficial for many transgender youth. Second, we do not support laws restricting access to gender affirmative care.”

<a href="https://english.osu.edu/people/jani.4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pranav Jani</a> is an Assistant Professor of English at Ohio State University. According to his university profile, Jani is a “longtime social justice activist” who specializes in “South Asia and the South Asian diaspora, Marxist theories of nationalism and colonialism, and the intertwined legacies of colonialism, settler colonialism and slavery.”
After Hamas terrorists attacked Israel in October 2023, Jani wrote an article titled “<a href="https://pranavjani.medium.com/finding-the-courage-to-speak-93c4dbf94fb9" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Finding the Courage to Speak</a>,” where he said:
“Today, political and social forces bear down on us and tell us not to speak against the genocidal war in Gaza &#8211; using the terrible death of Israeli civilians as a way to keep our mouths shut about Palestinian civilian deaths, expulsion, and starvation, today and for 75 years.” 
He then encouraged his readers to “stand up against injustice” and “speak out to the best of our ability.”
Jani acts as the faculty advisor for Ohio State’s chapter of <a href="https://activities.osu.edu/involvement/student_organizations/find_a_student_org?i=1422&amp;l=C&amp;page=6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Students for Justice in Palestine</a>. According to the <a href="https://freebeacon.com/campus/its-not-just-students-meet-the-professors-leading-the-academic-embrace-of-hamas/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washington Free Beacon</a>, the group held a “day of resistance” rally where organizers defended Hamas terrorism and condemned Israel’s “apartheid system.” The group also issued a statement defending Hamas’s “right to resist” and denounced “Israel’s continued settler colonial violent murder of Palestinians.”
Jani has been a vocal supporter of the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement. In 2016, he penned an article titled, “<a href="https://mlaboycott.wordpress.com/2016/09/22/pranav-janis-statement-in-support-of-a-boycott-of-israeli-academic-institutions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Statement in Support of a Boycott of Israeli Academic Institutions</a>,” where he wrote:
“When you join the boycott of Israel you are responding to a call from Palestinian civil society and saying that no, we, as part of a global community that is committed to human rights, will not be silent while atrocities under a military colonial occupation go on month after month, year after year … If you refuse to see this line, you are also taking a stand: for the status quo. You are free to do so, of course. But then please don’t speak to me about your anti-racism.” 
Jani is also an <a href="https://medium.com/age-of-awareness/the-backlash-against-racial-justice-education-recent-talks-interviews-and-writing-faa2bac2f05c" target="_blank" rel="noopener">advocate for critical race theory</a>. In an article titled “The Backlash Against Racial Justice Education: Recent Talks, Interviews, and Writing,” he alleges that CRT has become a “catch-all term for challenging racial justice and social justice education.” He writes:
“Under the cover of fighting ‘left-wing indoctrination,’ the White Right goes after all of the gains that educators have made in challenging curricula based on erasing racism, sexism, and oppression in U.S. history and society…”
“&#8230;Right-wing media and politicians have created a false narrative about Critical Race Theory, a field in legal studies, as their latest attempt to suppress honest dialogue and policy about diversity, equity, and inclusion in education &#8211; particularly as it relates to the topics of racism, slavery, and colonialism.” 
Jani has also called on people to “<a href="https://medium.com/age-of-awareness/organize-and-mobilize-fight-ohio-sb-83-524eac3048d0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">organize and mobilize</a>” against Ohio Senate Bill 83. According to <a href="https://www.dispatch.com/story/opinion/columns/2023/03/16/why-should-ohio-senate-bill-83-be-stopped-what-efforts-underway-ohio-state-university-free-speach/70014225007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Columbus Dispatch</a>, Senate Bill 83 would include, among other things, “an end to diversity training mandates, a ban on partnerships with Chinese universities, and mandatory American history courses.”
He believes the bill is an “attempt to roll back the changes in K-12 and higher education, and in society at large, that have taken place since the 1960s.” He attributes this to the “Donald Trump/Ron DeSantis era” which he claims is a “deep backlash against Black rebellion against police violence, trans visibility, growing unionization efforts, DEI programs, and other signs that many sections of U.S. society want to take on both structural oppression and its daily manifestations.”

<a href="https://english.osu.edu/people/jani.4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pranav Jani</a> is an Assistant Professor of English at Ohio State University. According to his university profile, Jani is a “longtime social justice activist” who specializes in “South Asia and the South Asian diaspora, Marxist theories of nationalism and colonialism, and the intertwined legacies of colonialism, settler colonialism and slavery.”

After Hamas terrorists attacked Israel in October 2023, Jani wrote an article titled “<a href="https://pranavjani.medium.com/finding-the-courage-to-speak-93c4dbf94fb9" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Finding the Courage to Speak</a>,” where he said:
“Today, political and social forces bear down on us and tell us not to speak against the genocidal war in Gaza - using the terrible death of Israeli civilians as a way to keep our mouths shut about Palestinian civilian deaths, expulsion, and starvation, today and for 75 years.” 
He then encouraged his readers to “stand up against injustice” and “speak out to the best of our ability.”

Jani acts as the faculty advisor for Ohio State’s chapter of <a href="https://activities.osu.edu/involvement/student_organizations/find_a_student_org?i=1422&amp;l=C&amp;page=6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Students for Justice in Palestine</a>. According to the <a href="https://freebeacon.com/campus/its-not-just-students-meet-the-professors-leading-the-academic-embrace-of-hamas/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washington Free Beacon</a>, the group held a “day of resistance” rally where organizers defended Hamas terrorism and condemned Israel’s “apartheid system.” The group also issued a statement defending Hamas’s “right to resist” and denounced “Israel’s continued settler colonial violent murder of Palestinians.”

Jani has been a vocal supporter of the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement. In 2016, he penned an article titled, “<a href="https://mlaboycott.wordpress.com/2016/09/22/pranav-janis-statement-in-support-of-a-boycott-of-israeli-academic-institutions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Statement in Support of a Boycott of Israeli Academic Institutions</a>,” where he wrote:
“When you join the boycott of Israel you are responding to a call from Palestinian civil society and saying that no, we, as part of a global community that is committed to human rights, will not be silent while atrocities under a military colonial occupation go on month after month, year after year … If you refuse to see this line, you are also taking a stand: for the status quo. You are free to do so, of course. But then please don’t speak to me about your anti-racism.” 
Jani is also an <a href="https://medium.com/age-of-awareness/the-backlash-against-racial-justice-education-recent-talks-interviews-and-writing-faa2bac2f05c" target="_blank" rel="noopener">advocate for critical race theory</a>. In an article titled “The Backlash Against Racial Justice Education: Recent Talks, Interviews, and Writing,” he alleges that CRT has become a “catch-all term for challenging racial justice and social justice education.” He writes:
“Under the cover of fighting ‘left-wing indoctrination,’ the White Right goes after all of the gains that educators have made in challenging curricula based on erasing racism, sexism, and oppression in U.S. history and society…”
“...Right-wing media and politicians have created a false narrative about Critical Race Theory, a field in legal studies, as their latest attempt to suppress honest dialogue and policy about diversity, equity, and inclusion in education - particularly as it relates to the topics of racism, slavery, and colonialism.” 
Jani has also called on people to “<a href="https://medium.com/age-of-awareness/organize-and-mobilize-fight-ohio-sb-83-524eac3048d0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">organize and mobilize</a>” against Ohio Senate Bill 83. According to <a href="https://www.dispatch.com/story/opinion/columns/2023/03/16/why-should-ohio-senate-bill-83-be-stopped-what-efforts-underway-ohio-state-university-free-speach/70014225007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Columbus Dispatch</a>, Senate Bill 83 would include, among other things, “an end to diversity training mandates, a ban on partnerships with Chinese universities, and mandatory American history courses.”

He believes the bill is an “attempt to roll back the changes in K-12 and higher education, and in society at large, that have taken place since the 1960s.” He attributes this to the “Donald Trump/Ron DeSantis era” which he claims is a “deep backlash against Black rebellion against police violence, trans visibility, growing unionization efforts, DEI programs, and other signs that many sections of U.S. society want to take on both structural oppression and its daily manifestations.”
