Carnegie Mellon University <a href="https://www.cmu.edu/dei-commitments/commitments/action-items/cmu-community/new-dei-training-module.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">requires</a> all students to complete a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion orientation training module. The module addresses topics such as “identity, privilege, bias, ally behavior, self-care, anti-racism, civility and social movements.”

Carnegie Mellon University

Stanford’s New Student Orientation partners with “Beyond Sex-Ed,” a program designed to introduce students to sex and adult relationships. Their <a href="https://stanfordreview.org/stanford-new-student-orientation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2020 orientation program</a> focused on the Class of 2024’s “sexual projects” and the intricacies of “allyship,” but remarked very little about how freshmen should adjust to university life.

Stanford University

The <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=17927&amp;_gl=1*1vui3cn*_ga*MTA1NzQ0ODA4Mi4xNjg5Mjc5MzM2*_ga_52173W50DL*MTY5MDIyMDg5NC4zLjEuMTY5MDIyMTIxMC42MC4wLjA." target="_blank" rel="noopener">university</a> requires its new student orientation leaders to complete a mandatory reading titled “Power &amp; Privilege Definitions” before they are allowed to welcome in the freshman students. The reading defines “able-bodied people,” “white people,” “Christians,” etc., as privileged.

Iowa State University

The university hosts a segregated <a href="https://parents.ucsd.edu/events/blna_orientation/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">orientation</a>, “Black, Latinx, and Native American Family Orientation.” This orientation is limited to families of these races only and excludes white and Asian families from attending.

University of California, San Diego

The <a href="https://wp.stolaf.edu/equity-inclusion/theory-of-transformation/orientation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university</a> has an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism (IDEA) workshop for all new students that addresses “social identities, power and privilege, and social justice.”

St. Olaf College

During annual orientation, students are <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/01/15/five-college-students-speak-out-against-campus-wokeness/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">encouraged</a> to attend the “SaferSexpo,” which provides condoms and sex toys and informs students where they can obtain abortion pills.

Princeton University

MIT has a Diversity Orientation <a href="https://studentlife.mit.edu/omp/signature-programs-and-events/diversity-orientation-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Program</a> that “formally welcomes all new students to the MIT community while engaging them in conversations on diversity, equity and inclusion that deepen their connections to self and others.” The <a href="https://studentlife.mit.edu/impact-opportunities/diversity-inclusion/spxce/diversity-equity-and-inclusion-course" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university</a> also requires all first-year students to complete a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion course.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

The university has a very detailed DEI Orientation program that <a href="https://diversity.wvu.edu/home/orientation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">includes</a> several resources explaining gender identity and other DEI subjects. They also have a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaeMg6746W-bv9zc-MDc7uSyrmudEe6v3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video series</a> including short discussions of “Ableism,” “Xenophobia,” “Equity,” “Gender Identity,” and “Allyship.”

West Virginia University

The University of Chicago <a href="https://college.uchicago.edu/college-programming-and-orientation/pre-orientation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offers</a> an optional Center for Identity + Inclusion Pre-Orientation Program where they “encourage incoming students of color and LGBTQ+ students to join our affinity-based cohort programs.”

University of Chicago

The Office of Undergraduate Education’s Orientation &amp; Transition Experiences webpage <a href="https://ote.umn.edu/about-ote" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declares</a> one of the orientation program’s core values is Inclusion: “Advocating for equity in our programs and on our campus.”
